4th of July

Randall and I finally had the courage to take the kids to see the fireworks this year. In the past Hilliard has had some great carnival rides and other activities around the Municipal Park, but due to the economy they cut back on rides and only had two inflatable obstacle courses, an inflatable slide, food vendors, a couple bands, and the playground.

Unfortunately Nora wasn't big enough for the inflatable stuff and there were tons of scary teenagers loitering and rough housing in the playground. After we walked around the park we went over to the middle school and had some snacks in the dry entry way. (did I tell ya it was drizzling the whole time!)

About an hour before the fireworks we walked over to the field in front of the school and set up our stuff. The kids were really pleased to have they're very own umbrella to hold. About 10 minutes before the fireworks it stopped drizzling and the sky cleared up a bit.

Corbin loved, loved the fireworks. He had to make a comment about every single one and he giggled every time there was a big boom. Nora was a bit nervous at first, I think the loud booms bothered her, but once we pointed out all the pink fireworks she began to enjoy it. Hilliard really did a great job this year and we will probably go back next year.

Randall's favorite part was that we were literally 200 feet from the car and we were able to book it out of there when the show was over. Thanks to finding a great place to sit, park, and the wonderful Hilliard police, we were able to make it home in 10 minutes flat! I know that will probably never happen again.
