Nana's House

On Friday we went up to my mom and step-dad's house in Mentor, Ohio for the weekend. Since they only live 3 blocks from Lake Erie we planned on taking the kids to the beach for the first time. The water is still a bit chilly up there so we decided to go to the park beach instead of the public swimming beach. That way the kids could play with the sand and rocks and get their feet wet and we wouldn't have to deal with the crowds and putting on life jackets.

Corbin loved the whole experience. He was throwing rocks in the lake, jumping in the waves, and playing in the sand. Nora on the other hand freaked out when her feet sunk into the sand, finally we got her over to the wet firm sand and she was okay, but she wouldn't go near the water. She was content to just shovel sand and rocks into her bucket.

We went again Saturday afternoon before we left. We let them play on the playground first before we walked down to the beach. It was more choppy than the day before and the waves were coming further in shore. Corbin went right into the waves and Nora stayed as far back from the water as possible. She would sit on some drift wood with my mom, come out to the wet sand and then as soon as the water came too close she would run for it. Maybe next year we can get Nora to put her toe in the water.
