Day 1 in St. Louis

Today we went to the St. Louis Zoo, perhaps one of the best zoos in America. We had a great time. Corbin was so excited to see the Hippos and the Giraffes. It is all he talked about all day! We tried to see as much as we could, but it is just impossible to do it all in one day. Last year we spent two days there and we still didn't see it all! Corbin and Nora both loved the train - it's really nice you can get on and off at different stations throughout the zoo. Corbin's favorite part was going through the tunnels.

The first thing we did was track down the Hippos, because that is all Corbin has been talking about all week. The first thing he said to me this morning was "Going to see the Hippos today Mommy." Today they had two of the four Hippos on exhibit and Corbin was in love - so was Nora. We also saw some of the Asian elephants in the area as well. After that we went to the Children's Zoo portion where Corbin played in the fountain. We saw the otters and the new baby Amur Leopard. Nora loved petting the Guinea Pigs and Corbin loved watching the Meerkats run back and forth. Then we rode the train around the Zoo, had some lunch by the flamingo area, and just chilled out. Corbin desperately wanted to see the Giraffes, but he was starting to wind down. So we rushed over there before he fell asleep, but we were too late. He did manage to wake up a little and the baby Giraffe and the rest of the Giraffe family. Then we went looking for all the other animals we don't have at the Columbus Zoo or that the kids had never seen before.

After we left the Zoo we did a little swimming in the hotel pool. Corbin had a blast - Nora not so much. I brought her back to the room early because Randall had traumatized her enough for the day.

The kids are now passed out in bed and I'm trying to lay out plans for tomorrow.
