Dear Plus Size Clothing Designers,
I feel I must write to you again because you are obviously not taking my criticisms seriously. Obviously you have ignored my previous letter dated March 16, 2010. Instead of repeating what I pointed out two months ago, I have come up with further criticisms and issues regarding your ideas towards summer clothing.
FIRST: Real women cannot wear horizontal stripes! Why do you keep forcing this "trend" on us. All they do is make our ample chests and hips look wider. I also don't wish to look like I just escaped from a chain gang or that I am a piece of notebook paper come to life and terrorizing the town.
SECOND: Again with the patterns! Please see previous letter regarding the horrible use of patterns.
THIRD: I like a good tank as much as the next person, but really, if the industry can't come up with a descent supportive strapless bra, please don't come out with shirts that require one. This must be some cruel joke to get us "women of the ample chest" to risk wearing a bra that probably with fall down around our ankles if we were to dare taking a "brisk" walk or take our chances and go bra-less. Unless there's an excellent boob job involved, no one wants to see our nipples poking out down around our waist. Along the same line, please take "shelf bras" out of camis, we both know they don't work, and it's just plan insulting when the elastic rides up around the middle of our bras.
FOURTH: This is important! While empire tops are very flattering, they only work if the waistline is below the bust. Most plus size women are busty, please stop putting the waistline across our nipples, it looks like we're trying to cut our breasts in half. And don't tell me changing my bra would make a difference, because we both know that's a lie. No one with D cups and larger have breasts that sit that high naturally.
FIFTH: Please remember that in addition to increasing the width of the garments you must also increase the length. Many of us use up that extra fabric in the bust area or waist area with very little left to cover the rest of our torso (i.e. love handles, bottom, etc. . .).
Please take these suggestions into consideration. The reason we currently buy your clothing is because there is so little choice in the market, not because we actually like what you are producing, and since our society and its laws dictate we must wear clothing we are forced to look like giant clowns and escaped prisoners.
Sincerely,
Kristy Lorenz
